Reflection – The key to Learning from your Service
Through Reflection, the experience of serving may become a deeper part of your life, values and beliefs. Students and offenders doing community service learning hours through Reachout America learn universal lessons — like how their efforts and choices can directly help bring joy to and improve the lives and experiences of special needs children and American Veterans. When students and offenders dedicate time to others in need, they make attitudinal and behavioral strides; they authentically learn how to be productive members of society. All community service action – whether it be direct or indirect – mandatory or voluntary — inspires and encourages career preparation, humbleness, personal reflection and future goals. Students and offenders who complete their community service learning hours through Reachout America’s options will reflect upon their experience. By taking the time to think about how the entire experience – the planning, promoting, and completing of the project – inspired, changed, or motivated them. The reflection ultimately will “reflect” how the participant’s life, thoughts, values, and/or mindset has been changed as a result making a purposeful choice to take action that will help others in society.
